introduction

I created this page to give me an alternative place to share my thoughts. My primary blog — also called, "Ruminations" — is located on another site, where I've posted since 2007.

One distinction about this page is that I hope to use it for both secular and spiritual things. God has gifted me in many skill sets — and has given me the privilege to learn from people across a diverse range of life experience; so I wanted to create a space where I could share some of what I've learned.

My Calling Sure ...

continued from the "Bishop's Gateway" page

To serve this present age, my calling to fulfill;
Oh, may it all my powers engage,
to do my Master's will . . .

An old Metered Hymn

From the age of seventeen I sensed a restlessness that had come alive in my spirit. I thought that the feelings were an indication that I was to be either a full time missionary, after graduating from the Watchtower Society's Gilead School, or to go to work at its Brooklyn Bethel headquarters, on a full time assignment. Neither of these things happened.

On that Thursday in November 1974 I sat down on a park bench in Hemming Park, until directed by a "still small voice" to cross the street to a nearby department store and buy a Bible. That day God settled the restlessness that had been stirring in my spirit, all these years. He spoke to me, through His Word, and told me to, "PREACH THE WORD!"

I publicly surrendered my life to Him a few weeks later, on the second Sunday in December. I preached my first sermon — "The Saddest Word," from Acts 26:28: 'Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.' — on the second Sunday in April 1975.

On Easter Sunday, 2013, it will be 38 years since i prached that sermon. Looking back I am as certain today as I was then that this — this Anointing to preach the Gospel — has been God's plan and purpose for my life, since before the foundation of the world!

And so I stand before today to tell you what I have said so many times before: There's NOTHING in this world that I like doing more than PREACHING!

Come here often?

I hope you will ... once I start adding to this page
